return to play

On-Field Rehab or Return To Play (RTP) is a critical component for the injured or de-conditioned athlete; whether that is in-season, pre-season, or during off-season. This is especially true with rehabilitation from chronic or significant injury.

Effective RTP begins with a thorough orthopedic and functional assessment including first identifying the athletes goals. This is followed by an overview of foundational movement patterns, running mechanics, core stability, and as well developmental ages.

An individualized prehab program and a comprehensive return-to-play plan is then developed with collaboration across the athlete’s team. This approach is detail orientated, with the aim to progressively improve both local and functional capacity.

Foundational movements that can be addressed include: The Athletic Position, Balance & Coordination, Running Technique, Acceleration & Deceleration Technique, Single Leg Stability & Strength, Footwork, Sport Specific Skill

Every athlete has the potential to enhance their strength, agility, aerobic/anaerobic fitness, confidence, and overall performance. Combined with functional conditioning and movement efficiency principles, athletes can not only return safely, but also reintegrate into their team environment stronger and better prepared.

Rehabilitation is also an opportunity for individual athlete development. This journey promotes autonomy with athletes regarding preparation and recovery strategies, body awareness, and establishing fundamental motor engrams critical for longevity and performance.
